Born and raised in Berlin, Phonique (Michael Vater) is a pioneering German DJ and producer renowned for his influential role in shaping the city's deep house and techno scenes. Launching his career in the late 1990s, Phonique quickly made a name for himself through residencies at iconic clubs like Tresor and WMF, as well as his groundbreaking "Club Paris" parties. His innovative approach to house music, blending elements of jazz, soul, and techno, earned him acclaim among peers and audiences alike.

Phonique’s debut album, **"Identification"** (2004), marked the beginning of a prolific recording career. He followed with acclaimed releases such as **"Good Idea"** (2007) and **"Kissing Strangers"** (2010), collaborating with respected artists like Erlend Øye, Gui Boratto, and Ian Whitelaw. His distinct sound—characterized by lush melodies, groovy basslines, and sophisticated production—has led to worldwide tours, festival appearances, and chart-topping singles, including the international hit **"Feel What You Want"** with Rebecca.

A two-time winner of the German Dance Award, Phonique remains a mainstay on the world stage, regularly performing at prestigious venues from Berlin to Brazil and beyond. Beyond his own productions, he is recognized for championing emerging talent through his label, Ladies & Gentlemen, continuing to inspire a new generation of electronic music artists and aficionados.
