Pender Street Steppers

Pender Street Steppers are a Canadian electronic music duo from Vancouver, consisting of Jack Jutson and Liam Butler. Emerging in the early 2010s as part of the Mood Hut collective, they have become known for their uniquely laid-back approach to deep house and atmospheric dance music, blending elements of jazz, boogie, ambient, and funk. Their music is characterized by warm synth melodies, analog drum grooves, and a dreamy, homegrown sensibility that has earned them a dedicated following both within their local scene and internationally.

Releasing records on Vancouver’s Mood Hut label as well as acclaimed imprints like PPU and Future Times, the Steppers have garnered critical praise for EPs such as “Openin’ Up” and “The Glass City,” which capture the coastal, rainy-day vibe of their home city. As DJs and live performers, Pender Street Steppers are recognized for their inclusive, free-spirited ethos and eclectic selections, fostering a communal dancefloor experience that transcends traditional genre boundaries.
