Patamamba

Patamamba is a contemporary visual artist born and raised in Salvador, Brazil, whose work weaves the vibrant colors and layered histories of Afro-Brazilian culture into immersive mixed media experiences. Drawing inspiration from the rhythmic traditions of candomblé, samba, and urban street art, Patamamba’s practice incorporates painting, collage, and installation to explore themes of identity, diaspora, and collective memory. After completing a degree in Fine Arts at Universidade Federal da Bahia, Patamamba held their first solo exhibition in 2016, quickly garnering attention for their dynamic compositions and keen social commentary.

In the years since, Patamamba’s work has been exhibited in galleries and cultural spaces throughout Brazil and internationally, including shows in Lisbon, Dakar, and New York. Dedicated to community engagement, Patamamba often collaborates with local youth and art educators to lead mural projects and workshops, believing deeply in the power of art as a tool for empowerment and social transformation. With each new project, Patamamba continues to push the boundaries of form and narrative, offering poignant reflections on the enduring legacies and evolving identities of the African diaspora in the Americas.
