Om Unit

Om Unit is the alias of Jim Coles, a British electronic music producer known for his boundary-pushing fusion of genres. Emerging from the UK’s fertile beat scene, Coles first gained recognition as a turntablist and producer under the name 2tall before reinventing himself as Om Unit in 2010. His releases span an eclectic spectrum, mixing elements of jungle, drum & bass, dubstep, hip-hop, footwork, and experimental electronics, often bridging gaps between disparate underground scenes.

Om Unit’s early work, including releases on labels like Civil Music and Planet Mu, showcased his forward-thinking production style. He was a core member of the influential "Cosmology" series on his own label, Cosmic Bridge, which became a vital hub for cross-Atlantic collaborations and hybrid sounds. Notable projects include his Timewarp EP, which reinterpreted classic jungle through the lens of contemporary sound design, and his partnership with Machinedrum as Dream Continuum, pushing footwork and jungle fusion to new creative heights.

As a DJ, Om Unit is renowned for his versatile, genre-defying sets that blend classic rave influences with the latest innovations in bass music. His dynamic approach earned him international recognition, touring the world and performing at major festivals and underground events alike.
