Odd Familiar

Odd Familiar is a collaborative artistic project founded by partners and creative duo, Jamie Rowan and Taylor Lin, whose work blurs the boundaries between sculpture, mixed-media installation, and surreal visual storytelling. Based in Portland, Oregon, Odd Familiar draws inspiration from the uncanny aspects of everyday life, fusing mundane materials with imaginative twists to evoke curiosity and wonder. Their practice often involves repurposed found objects, digital manipulations, and handcrafted elements, inviting viewers to reconsider their perceptions of reality and memory.

Since forming in 2020, Odd Familiar has exhibited in contemporary art spaces across the Pacific Northwest and participated in artist residencies focused on experimental approaches to communal and environmental themes. Through a combination of playful improvisation and meticulous craft, Jamie and Taylor explore empathy, nostalgia, and transformation, crafting immersive experiences that prompt audiences to reconnect with the unusual magic of the familiar.
