Metatext

Metatext is a contemporary art duo based in Germany whose innovative practice merges visual art, digital media, and conceptual writing. Formed in 2017, Metatext’s collaborative practice centers on the interplay between language, perception, and technology, drawing on backgrounds in philosophy, graphic design, and computer science. Their work spans installation, generative art, and experimental publishing, often employing algorithmic processes to question authorship and narrative in the digital age.

Exhibiting widely across Germany and internationally, Metatext’s projects have appeared in institutions such as the ZKM Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe and Berlin’s transmediale festival. Through their critically-engaged approach, Metatext investigates the boundaries between human and machine intelligence, inviting audiences to reconsider the materiality and agency of text in contemporary society.
