Matthew Dexter

Matthew Dexter is a contemporary multidisciplinary artist whose evocative work explores the intersections of memory, landscape, and lived experience. Born in 1985 in rural England, Dexter developed an early fascination with visual storytelling, drawing on the rhythm of the natural world and the subtle dramas of everyday life. He pursued formal studies in Fine Art at Goldsmiths, University of London, where he nurtured his distinctive voice and began exhibiting in group shows across the UK.

Dexter’s practice incorporates painting, found object sculpture, and photography, weaving together fragments from personal and collective histories to probe themes of displacement and belonging. His recent work delves into notions of impermanence, often utilizing salvaged materials and layered surfaces to evoke a sense of fleeting presence. Over the past decade, Dexter’s exhibitions have been featured in leading galleries throughout Europe and North America, drawing praise for their emotional depth and lyrical sensitivity.

He currently lives and works in Berlin, where he continues to evolve his practice, mentoring emerging artists and experimenting with new media.
