Marcel Fengler

Marcel Fengler grew up in Fürstenwalde, just outside Berlin, where his early life was shaped by the cultural shifts following the fall of the Berlin Wall. Exposure to the city’s evolving nightlife and electronic music scene deeply influenced his musical direction. Initially immersed in hip-hop and breakdance culture, Fengler’s fascination with electronic sounds soon led him to techno.

He began his DJ career in the late 1990s, developing a reputation for his distinct style that blends raw energy with a sophisticated touch. In 2004, Fengler became a resident DJ at Berlin’s renowned Berghain club, establishing himself as a core member of the city’s techno community. His dynamic and unpredictable DJ sets, marked by intricate rhythms and atmospheric soundscapes, quickly set him apart.

Fengler’s productions reflect his broad musical background, often weaving together elements from techno, house, ambient, and experimental music. He released several influential records on Ostgut Ton, the Berghain label, including the lauded “Thwack” EP and his critically acclaimed debut album **Fokus** in 2013. His versatility as a producer has also led to collaborations and remixes for prominent artists within and beyond the techno genre.

In 2015, Fengler launched his own imprint, IMF (Index Marcel Fengler), further establishing his individual vision. The label serves as a platform for both his work and emerging talent, embracing techno’s past while pushing its boundaries forward. Over the years, Fengler has performed at major international clubs and festivals, gaining respect for his artistry and consistency.
