Louie Vega, born Luis Ferdinand Vega Jr. in the Bronx, New York, grew up surrounded by music, influenced by his Puerto Rican heritage and legendary musical family, including his uncle, singer Héctor Lavoe. Bursting onto the NYC house scene in the late 1980s, Vega quickly established himself as both a DJ and a producer known for his seamless blend of soulful house, Latin rhythms, funk, and jazz.

Alongside Kenny “Dope” Gonzalez, he formed the iconic duo Masters At Work, which revolutionized dance music with their genre-blurring productions, including classic remixes and hits for artists such as Madonna, Michael Jackson, and Luther Vandross. A Grammy Award-winning producer, Vega’s career spans decades and continents. He’s released critically acclaimed solo albums like “Elements of Life” and “Expansions in the NYC,” and founded the Elements of Life live band, uniting top musicians to perform soulful house fused with Afro-Latin, jazz, and world influences.

Vega’s ongoing Vega Records imprint showcases his commitment to nurturing new talent and advancing electronic music. Renowned for his uplifting DJ sets and deep connection to the dancefloor, Louie Vega remains a central figure in global club culture, celebrated for his innovation, versatility, and dedication to musical unity.
