Leroy Roberts

Leroy Roberts is a contemporary visual artist whose work explores the intersection of memory, place, and cultural identity through a multidisciplinary practice that encompasses painting, sculpture, and installation. Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, Roberts developed a deep connection to the vibrant colors, rhythms, and stories of the American South, which are frequently reflected in the textures and narratives of his art. After earning a BFA from Xavier University of Louisiana and later an MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art, Roberts began exhibiting his pieces nationally, gaining recognition for his innovative use of found materials and layered surfaces.

His evocative compositions often highlight the resilience and beauty in overlooked urban landscapes, engaging themes of reclamation and transformation. Roberts’s work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions at notable venues such as the Ogden Museum of Southern Art and the Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans, and he has participated in artist residencies across the country.
