Lenard Klein

Lenard Klein is an American contemporary artist whose multidisciplinary practice spans painting, sculpture, and mixed media installations. Born in 1953 in New York City, Klein’s early exposure to the vibrant cultural milieu of Manhattan inspired a lifelong fascination with the interplay of color, form, and texture. He earned his BFA from the School of Visual Arts and continued his studies at Pratt Institute, delving into abstract expressionism and conceptual art.

Over a career that has spanned more than four decades, Klein’s work has explored themes of urban transformation, memory, and the effects of time on physical and emotional landscapes. His richly layered canvases and assemblages often feature reclaimed materials, reflecting both personal histories and broader societal narratives.
