Larry Heard

Born in 1960 in Chicago, Larry Heard is a pioneering American DJ, musician, composer, and producer widely regarded as a foundational figure in the development of deep house music. Originally a drummer, Heard transitioned to electronic music in the early 1980s, forming the influential group Fingers Inc. with Robert Owens and Ron Wilson.

His 1986 solo single "Can You Feel It" under the moniker Mr. Fingers is considered one of the genre’s most iconic tracks, merging soulful melodies, innovative synth work, and subtle rhythmic complexity. Throughout his career, Heard has released numerous albums and EPs both as Mr.

Fingers and under his own name, each marked by intricate production and emotive depth. His work in the late 1980s with Fingers Inc., particularly on the landmark album *Another Side*, helped define the sound and ethos of Chicago house.
