Kenji Tazaki

Kenji Tazaki is a contemporary multidisciplinary artist whose work traverses painting, sculpture, and installation, often exploring the complex interplay between urban environments and personal memory. Born in Osaka, Japan in 1987, Tazaki developed an early fascination with the aesthetics of fragmentation and the subtle poetics of everyday materials. After earning his BFA from Kyoto City University of Arts, he continued his studies in Berlin, where the city’s architectural juxtapositions and rich cultural history profoundly influenced his creative vision.

Tazaki’s practice is characterized by a nuanced sensitivity to surface, texture, and the found object, resulting in compositions that evoke both vulnerability and resilience. Over the past decade, his work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions across Asia and Europe, including notable presentations at the Mori Art Museum and the Hamburger Bahnhof. Tazaki currently lives and works in Tokyo, drawing from his transnational experiences to create artworks that invite viewers to reconsider the boundaries between the personal and the public, the constructed and the organic.
