Julien Simmons

Julien Simmons is a contemporary visual artist whose work explores the intersections of memory, identity, and urban environments through mixed media installations and evocative paintings. Born in Toronto in 1987, Simmons developed an early fascination with the fleeting textures and layered histories of city life, themes that anchor much of their art practice today. After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts from OCAD University, Simmons exhibited widely across Canada and internationally, garnering critical attention for using found materials and digital interventions to challenge perceptions of time and place.

Their recent exhibitions have delved into the imprint of personal and collective histories on everyday objects, with projects that invite audiences to reconsider the boundaries between the personal and the communal. Simmons’s work has been featured in publications such as Canadian Art and Artforum, and they have participated in residencies including the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. Throughout their career, Julien Simmons remains committed to fostering dialogues around resilience and transformation in contemporary society, positioning their work at the forefront of innovative storytelling within the visual arts.
