Jones May is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans painting, sculpture, and digital media. Born in 1991 and based in Brooklyn, New York, May’s work is defined by its exploration of memory, urban landscapes, and the intersection of technology with contemporary identity. After graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2013, May quickly gained recognition for their evocative use of color and texture, often layering found materials and incorporating elements from their surroundings.
Their exhibitions have been featured in major galleries across the United States, including solo shows at the MoMA PS1 and the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, as well as group exhibitions in Europe and Asia. Jones May’s art invites viewers to examine their own relationships to place and time, while critically reflecting on how digital culture shapes personal and collective histories. In addition to their studio practice, May has participated in artist residencies such as Skowhegan and the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, and regularly contributes to public art projects and community workshops.
Their work is held in several private and public collections, and continues to inspire dialogue about the evolving nature of art in the twenty-first century.
