John Xie

John Xie is a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans painting, sculpture, and digital media, reflecting a deep engagement with cultural identity, technology, and the complexities of human connection. Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Xie’s early exposure to the region’s diverse communities and vibrant arts scene fostered a practice rooted in both observation and experimentation. He holds a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design, where he developed his signature approach of combining traditional techniques with contemporary materials.

Xie’s art often explores themes of migration, memory, and hybridity, creating immersive narratives that invite viewers to reconsider notions of belonging and transformation. His work has been exhibited in galleries and museums across the United States and internationally, including solo shows in New York, Los Angeles, and Shanghai. In addition to his studio practice, John Xie is an active educator and advocate for arts accessibility, collaborating with schools and community organizations to promote creative empowerment.
