John Marshall

John Marshall is a contemporary artist from the United Kingdom, known for his innovative exploration of materiality, space, and social themes. His practice spans sculpture, installation, and multimedia works, often employing found objects and industrial materials to challenge viewers' perceptions of environment and form. Born in 1982 in Manchester, Marshall studied Fine Art at the University of Leeds and further developed his conceptual approach at the Royal College of Art, London.

Deeply influenced by British industrial landscapes and urban transformation, his works probe the tensions between permanence and transience, memory and erasure. Marshall has exhibited widely across the UK and Europe, including notable solo exhibitions at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art and group shows at Tate Liverpool. His pieces are part of several public and private collections, and he has been shortlisted for the Deutsche Bank Award for Creative Enterprise.

Alongside his studio practice, Marshall actively collaborates with community groups and leads workshops focused on sustainable art practices, reflecting his commitment to environmental and social issues within contemporary art.
