Johannes Schuster

Johannes Schuster is a contemporary visual artist whose work explores the intersection of memory, landscape, and abstraction. Born in Vienna, Austria in 1986, Schuster’s early fascination with classical European painting and sculpture evolved into an experimental practice that embraces painting, printmaking, and installation. After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, Schuster developed a distinctive visual language characterized by layered textures, gestural brushwork, and an evocative use of color.

His artworks often reference both real and imagined places, drawing on personal narratives as well as collective histories to investigate the ways environments shape human experience. Schuster has exhibited in group and solo exhibitions throughout Europe, including notable spaces in Berlin, Paris, and Vienna, and his works are included in several private and public collections. Deeply committed to both material exploration and conceptual rigor, Schuster continues to push the boundaries of contemporary art while maintaining a dialogue with the traditions that inform his practice.
