Jo Kazan

Jo Kazan is a contemporary multimedia artist whose evocative work bridges the boundaries between painting, sculpture, and digital media. Born in Toronto in 1987, Kazan developed a fascination with both urban and natural landscapes, which later became central themes in their art. After receiving a BFA from the Emily Carr University of Art + Design, Kazan’s career gained momentum through a series of dynamic exhibitions across North America and Europe, earning critical acclaim for immersive installations that explore memory, identity, and the impermanence of place.

Kazan’s work is characterized by richly layered textures, experimental use of found materials, and a captivating interplay of light and shadow, drawing viewers into contemplative engagement. Currently based in Montreal, Jo Kazan continues to expand their practice, collaborating with musicians, dancers, and technologists to push the possibilities of experiential art while remaining deeply committed to community engagement and environmental advocacy.
