James Mc Hale

James Mc Hale is a Swiss multimedia artist whose work seamlessly merges traditional practices with contemporary digital techniques. Born and raised in Zurich, Mc Hale’s creative vision is shaped by the diverse cultural and natural landscapes of Switzerland, inspiring his explorations of identity, memory, and perception. Having studied at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste (Zurich University of the Arts), he developed a multidisciplinary approach that incorporates painting, video, installation, and sound.

His evocative installations have been exhibited in prominent Swiss galleries, as well as international venues across Europe. Drawing on personal narratives and collective histories, Mc Hale’s art invites viewers to contemplate the shifting boundaries between the physical and the virtual, the past and the present. He lives and works in Basel, where he continues to challenge artistic conventions and engage in collaborative projects with artists, writers, and musicians.
