Jake Reed is a contemporary American artist known for his innovative approach to materials and his exploration of the interplay between abstraction and representation. Born in 1985 in Austin, Texas, Reed developed an early interest in visual art, drawing inspiration from the vibrant colors and landscapes of the American Southwest. He earned his BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and later completed an MFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he began to experiment with mixed media, integrating painting, collage, and digital techniques.
Reed’s work often examines the boundaries of perception, using layered textures, fragmented forms, and bold color palettes to invite viewers into a dynamic visual dialogue. His pieces have been featured in solo and group exhibitions in New York, Los Angeles, and Berlin, garnering critical praise for their emotional resonance and formal sophistication. In addition to his studio practice, Jake Reed is an active educator, conducting workshops and lectures on contemporary art practices.
He currently lives and works in Brooklyn, where he continues to explore new possibilities in visual expression, pushing the limits of both traditional and digital mediums.
