Howman is an interdisciplinary artist duo comprised of artists Kelly Howman and Jordan Howman, known for their collaborative practice that blurs the line between sculpture, installation, and participatory art. Based in Toronto, Canada, the Howmans create immersive environments that examine themes of memory, place, and human connection, often repurposing everyday materials to elicit a sense of familiarity and nostalgia. Their work foregrounds the process of making as both a personal and collective act, inviting viewers to become participants in their evolving installations.
Since forming their partnership in 2014, Howman has exhibited across North America and Europe, including recent solo exhibitions at the Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery and participation in Nuit Blanche Toronto. Their art has been featured in publications like Canadian Art and Artforum, and they have been recipients of several grants and residencies from the Canada Council for the Arts. Through their inventive and community-engaged projects, Howman continues to challenge traditional boundaries in contemporary art, fostering shared experiences and new forms of dialogue.
