HICCUP is a multidisciplinary artist collective known for their irreverent approach to contemporary art, fusing elements of sculpture, painting, performance, and digital media. Founded in 2017 by partners Eli Carson and Mira So, HICCUP’s work explores the absurdities and rhythms of modern life, often focusing on themes of technology, play, and human error. The duo has gained a reputation for creating immersive installations that invite audience participation and provoke playful confusion, blending humor and sincerity in equal measure.
Their practice frequently incorporates found materials, glitch aesthetics, and interactive experiences that challenge traditional boundaries between artist and viewer. HICCUP’s projects have been exhibited in galleries and public spaces across North America and Europe, including recent shows at The Shed in New York, the Vancouver Art Gallery, and in the digital exhibition “Screensaver Dreams.” Their work has been featured in publications such as Frieze, Hyperallergic, and Artforum, and they have been recipients of several grants supporting new media innovation.
HICCUP continues to push conceptual and material limits, developing projects that invite audiences to embrace unpredictability and find joy in the unexpected.
