Gui Machado

Gui Machado is a contemporary visual artist whose multidisciplinary practice explores the intersections of memory, urban space, and personal narrative. Born in Rio de Janeiro, Machado's early experiences growing up in Brazil deeply inform his approach to materials and subject matter, often drawing upon the vibrant visual culture and complex social landscapes of his homeland. After relocating to Europe for formal study, he earned his MFA from the Royal College of Art in London, where he began to merge painting, installation, and digital media in innovative ways.

Machado’s work is characterized by lush textures, layered imagery, and a sense of poetic fragmentation, inviting viewers to reconsider the boundaries between public and private histories. His exhibitions have been presented in institutions and galleries across South America and Europe, including solo shows at Galeria Vermelho in São Paulo and The Showroom in London. Beyond his personal practice, Machado is known for engaging in collaborative projects that foster cross-cultural dialogue and community participation, further expanding the reach and resonance of his art.
