Griefeater is an experimental music project that emerged from the underground noise and doom scenes, known for its unflinching exploration of loss, transformation, and catharsis through sound. Founded in 2018 by multi-instrumentalist and producer Rowan Ellis, Griefeater weaves together layers of distorted guitars, field recordings, and fractured electronics to evoke unfiltered emotion and heavy atmosphere. Drawing inspiration from industrial, drone, folk traditions, and post-metal, the project’s compositions often oscillate between meditative minimalism and punishing sonic assaults, creating a space where vulnerability and strength coexist.

While initially operating as a solo endeavor, Griefeater has morphed into a mutable collective for live performances, collaborating with visual artists, poets, and improvisers to further deepen its immersive, multidisciplinary approach.
