Girlcop Profile Image

Girlcop

Girlcop is the collaborative project of artists Rosy Thompson and Jamie Weller, who have been working together since 2018 to explore themes of power, surveillance, and rebellion through a distinctly playful lens. Based in Los Angeles, Girlcop’s work spans performance, video, sculpture, and zine-making, often repurposing police iconography and tropes as tools for critique and satire. Their irreverent, brightly colored installations invite public participation and challenge traditional boundaries between authority and subversion, frequently appearing in alternative spaces, DIY festivals, and unexpected urban sites.

With backgrounds in street art and social activism, Thompson and Weller see Girlcop as a living persona—a trickster figure exposing the absurdities of institutional order while championing collective joy and grassroots resistance. Their work has been featured in publications such as Artforum and Hyperallergic, and exhibited at venues including the Hammer Museum and Redcat, as well as in numerous pop-up happenings and community events throughout Southern California.
