Fredd Mann is a contemporary multimedia artist whose work explores the intersection of abstraction, memory, and cultural identity. Born in New Orleans in 1986, Mann was deeply influenced by the vibrant colors, rhythms, and narratives of his hometown, elements that often reappear in his layered canvases and installations. He received his BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2009 and later completed his MFA at Yale University in 2014, where he began experimenting with non-traditional materials and digital media.
Mann’s art practice is marked by a dynamic interplay of painting, found objects, and sound, synthesizing fragments of personal history with collective experience. His works have been exhibited at venues including the New Museum in New York, the Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans, and internationally in Berlin and Tokyo. A frequent collaborator, Mann has worked with musicians, poets, and filmmakers to create immersive experiences that challenge the boundaries between art forms.
He currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY, and continues to draw on his Southern roots and urban surroundings to create pieces that resonate with both vulnerability and resilience.
