Franco Strato

Franco Strato is a contemporary visual artist whose work explores the intersections of memory, architecture, and the unseen layers of urban environments. Born in Milan, Italy, in 1982, Strato developed an early fascination with the interplay between light and space, initially cultivated through drawing and photography as a child roaming the city’s storied neighborhoods. After studying fine arts at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, Strato’s practice evolved toward mixed media, incorporating elements of found materials, abstract mark-making, and site-specific installations.

His work often investigates themes of impermanence, urban decay, and the quiet beauty found within transitional spaces, making him a unique voice in the European art scene. Strato has exhibited widely throughout Italy and Europe, with recent solo shows in Berlin, Paris, and Barcelona, receiving acclaim for his haunting, layered compositions that evoke both nostalgia and the relentless passage of time. He currently lives and works between Milan and Berlin, continuously pushing the boundaries of contemporary art with a contemplative and experimental approach.
