Named after a playful play on classic cinema and house music spirit, Francis Inferno Orchestra (real name Griffin James) emerged from Melbourne’s vibrant club scene to become one of Australia’s most acclaimed and visionary underground DJs and producers. Known for his unique sound that connects the dots between deep house, dusty disco, cosmic funk, and leftfield electronics, Griffin has carved out an international reputation for adventurous, genre-blurring DJ sets that span decades and styles. Cutting his teeth at intimate venues in Melbourne, Francis Inferno Orchestra co-founded the influential party series and label, Animals Dancing, fostering a community for boundary-pushing dance music in Australia.
