Fort Romeau

Fort Romeau is the alias of British producer and DJ Michael Greene. Since emerging onto the electronic music scene in the early 2010s, Fort Romeau has become known for his sophisticated blend of house, techno, and ambient sounds, characterized by lush melodies, warm analog textures, and an understated, hypnotic groove. Originally hailing from Chester, England, Greene’s passion for music took root at a young age, with early influences spanning classical, jazz, and the heritage of Chicago and Detroit house.

Before launching his solo project, he cut his teeth as a keyboardist for the acclaimed synth-pop group La Roux, an experience that sharpened his skills in electronic sound design and performance. In 2012, Fort Romeau debuted with “Kingdoms” on 100% Silk, an album that swiftly garnered praise for its emotive depth and elegant approach to dance music. Subsequent releases on labels such as Ghostly International, Running Back, and his own Cin Cin imprint (co-founded with Nick Höppner) showcased his evolution, weaving elements of disco, trance, and kosmische Musik into his rhythmic, analog-rich productions.

Renowned for his versatile and immersive DJ sets, Fort Romeau has played at renowned clubs and festivals worldwide, translating his studio craft to the dancefloor with seamless precision. Works such as his “Insides” LP and “Beings of Light” further established his status as a purveyor of thoughtful, forward-thinking electronic music. Beyond his own releases, Fort Romeau has become a sought-after remixer, reimagining tracks for artists spanning Röyksopp, Caribou, Gold Panda, and more, while Cin Cin continues to serve as a platform for emerging and established artists at the intersection of house and techno.
