Fontango is a dynamic artist collective known for blending traditional forms with contemporary expression, producing work that defies genre and cultural boundaries. Founded in Buenos Aires in 2017 by visual artist Camila Fontes and experimental sound designer Diego Botango, Fontango has rapidly gained international recognition for their multidisciplinary output, which fuses elements of abstract painting, digital media, urban murals, and immersive sound installations. Drawing on the rich heritage of Argentine tango as both inspiration and metaphor, their creative process centers on improvisation, collaboration, and emotional resonance.
Fontango’s projects have been featured in galleries from Berlin to New York, as well as in public spaces across South America. Through their art, Fontango explores themes of migration, identity, and transformation, inviting audiences to experience a dialogue between past and present, local and global, tradition and innovation.
