Ezra Collective is a dynamic, London-based ensemble at the forefront of the modern UK jazz scene. Formed in 2012, the group consists of Femi Koleoso (drums), TJ Koleoso (bass), Joe Armon-Jones (keys), James Mollison (saxophone), and Ife Ogunjobi (trumpet). Drawing influences from jazz, Afrobeat, hip-hop, and reggae, they are known for energetic live performances and a boundary-pushing sound that connects genres and generations.
Their early releases, including the EPs "Chapter 7" (2016) and "Juan Pablo: The Philosopher" (2018), garnered critical acclaim and caught the attention of jazz aficionados and mainstream listeners alike. Ezra Collective's 2019 debut album, "You Can’t Steal My Joy," featured collaborations with artists such as Jorja Smith and Loyle Carner and earned praise for its infectious rhythms and innovative fusion. They continued to tour extensively, building a reputation for celebrating musical diversity and unity on international stages.
In 2022, Ezra Collective released their sophomore album, "Where I’m Meant To Be," further cementing their place in contemporary music and winning the prestigious 2023 Mercury Prize—the first jazz act ever to do so. Beyond their own recordings, the members are sought-after session musicians, individually collaborating with leading artists and producers across genres. Ezra Collective’s commitment to musical growth, cultural celebration, and community engagement positions them as pivotal voices in both the UK jazz renaissance and the broader global music landscape.
