Esa Williams, widely recognized simply as Esa, is a dynamic DJ, producer, and curator originally from Cape Town, South Africa, now based in London. Known for his eclectic and boundary-pushing music selections, Esa merges house, techno, and electronic styles with global influences, particularly drawing from his African heritage. His musical journey began with the legendary Cape Town DJ collective and label, African Parties, before quickly gaining recognition for his technical skills and unique taste.

Esa’s UK journey began with his move to Glasgow, where he became affiliated with the influential Sub Club and the globally respected Huntleys & Palmers label. His dynamic sets and open-minded approach to music attracted collaborations with revered international acts, including Auntie Flo, for whom he became a central creative force. Building on his growing reputation, Esa launched his own project, Esa Presents Amandla Music, promoting cross-cultural collaborations with musicians from Africa, South America, and Europe.

His practical mentorship for the Youth Club Sounds project fostered the development of up-and-coming production talent and helped him establish himself as an educator, delivering Red Bull Music Academy workshops and mentoring at electronic music institutions worldwide. Esa’s productions—often released on respected labels such as Dekmantel, Highlife, and Soundway—showcase his signature, rhythm-laden sound. At the decks, he is renowned for his energetic yet sensitive sets, blending everything from rare grooves, funk, and traditional sounds to forward-thinking club tracks.
