DJ Kuroneko

DJ Kuroneko, known offstage as Aya Nakamura, is a Tokyo-born DJ and producer celebrated for her eclectic blend of house, techno, and J-pop influences. Starting her career in the vibrant Tokyo club scene during the late 2010s, she quickly garnered attention for her high-energy sets and innovative remixes, fusing Japanese pop melodies with driving electronic beats. Kuroneko’s signature style combines cut-up vocal samples, deep basslines, and playful nods to 90s dance music, earning her residencies at some of Shibuya’s top nightclubs.

After the viral success of her 2021 mixtape “Midnight Neko,” she was invited to perform at international festivals such as Ultra Japan, Sonar Hong Kong, and Berlin’s KitKatClub. Kuroneko is renowned for her visually engaging live shows, often incorporating custom anime-inspired visuals and collaborating with local VJ artists. In the studio, she has released original EPs on independent labels like Future Shrine and Kitsune Musique, charting on Japanese electronic music playlists.
