Deaf Florists

Deaf Florists is a multidisciplinary artist duo based in Toronto, Canada, known for their captivating fusion of visual art, installation, and soundscapes. Comprising Aly Salgado and Rowan Lin, their collaborative practice explores themes of communication, sensory perception, and the language of silence. Since forming in 2017, Deaf Florists have exhibited widely across Canada and internationally, showcasing immersive environments that challenge conventional modes of interaction and invite audiences to reconsider the boundaries between hearing and non-hearing worlds.

Drawing on their diverse backgrounds in sculpture, experimental music, and Deaf culture, Salgado and Lin craft poetic assemblages from found objects, botanical elements, and field recordings, evoking ephemeral narratives rooted in memory and place. Their projects, whether gallery-based or installed in unconventional public spaces, consistently emphasize accessibility and inclusivity, with a commitment to bridging gaps and fostering dialogue across communities.
