Convextion

Convextion is the primary alias of Gerard Hanson, an influential electronic music producer and DJ from Dallas, Texas. Since the mid-1990s, he has been a key figure in the American and global techno and electro scenes. Hanson is renowned for his deep, atmospheric sound, merging elements of Detroit techno, dub, and electro into immersive, emotive tracks.

His music is characterized by lush pads, intricate drum programming, and an otherworldly sense of space, making his work both timeless and futuristic. Although Convextion has released relatively few records, each one has achieved cult status among fans and critics alike. His early singles on Matrix, Down Low Music, and his own label sought-after for their analog warmth and subtle complexity.

Hanson's self-titled debut album as Convextion, released in 2006, is hailed as a modern classic, seamlessly blending influences from Basic Channel, Drexciya, and early Warp Records with his unique vision. Despite his low public profile and rare DJ appearances—often performing live sets rather than traditional DJ mixes—Convextion has developed a dedicated following. He is also known for his electro project E.

R.P. (Event Related Potential), under which he explores futuristic and aquatic-themed electro sounds, further cementing his reputation for forward-thinking and emotionally resonant electronic music.
