Concrete Husband is a multidisciplinary art duo formed in 2019 by collaborators Sam Ellis and Jordan Lee, based in Baltimore, Maryland. Drawing on influences from urban landscapes, industrial decay, and the personal histories embedded in everyday materials, their work blurs the boundaries between sculpture, installation, and sound art. Concrete Husband’s projects often center on repurposed concrete, steel, and glass, weaving narratives of impermanence and resilience through tactile, immersive environments.
The duo’s practice is rooted in collaborative experimentation and frequently incorporates participation from local communities, inviting dialogue on themes of place and memory. Their installations have been exhibited in venues such as The Contemporary, Area 405, and the BMA’s Front Room, as well as in disused warehouses and outdoor urban spaces, highlighting their commitment to site-specificity. Concrete Husband has been recognized with grants from the Maryland State Arts Council and the Rubys Artist Grants, and continues to push the boundaries of collective authorship and material storytelling in contemporary art.
