Chidera O

Chidera O. is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the intersections of identity, memory, and spirituality. Born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, Chidera draws on the rich cultural heritage and vibrant traditions of West Africa to create immersive installations, mixed media paintings, and experimental sculpture.

After relocating to the United States, Chidera earned a BFA from Howard University, where they deepened their passion for combining indigenous techniques with contemporary art practices. Through the use of found objects, textiles, and bold color palettes, Chidera’s art evokes powerful narratives about diasporic experience, resilience, and transformation. Their work has been exhibited in group and solo shows in Lagos, Washington D.

C., New York, and London, and is held in private collections internationally. Recognized for their innovative approach, Chidera O.

has received numerous awards and residencies, including the Rele Art Foundation Young Contemporaries award and a fellowship at the Vermont Studio Center. With each project, Chidera continues to challenge boundaries, inviting audiences to consider new perspectives on heritage, belonging, and the ever-evolving nature of cultural identity.
