Celafet

Celafet is a contemporary visual artist known for their evocative exploration of memory, perception, and the spaces where identity and landscape intersect. Born in 1989 in Jakarta, Indonesia, Celafet’s artistic journey spans diverse media, including painting, photography, and installation, with a distinctive style characterized by layered textures, subtle color palettes, and a nuanced sense of place. After earning a degree in Fine Arts from Bandung Institute of Technology, Celafet spent several formative years traveling across Southeast Asia, drawing inspiration from the region’s shifting urban and rural environments.

This nomadic period profoundly shaped their approach to art-making, imbuing their work with a meditative sensibility and an acute sensitivity to the passage of time. Since their first solo exhibition in Yogyakarta in 2013, Celafet’s art has been shown in major galleries and biennales across Asia and Europe. Their recent projects, which frequently engage themes of displacement and belonging, have garnered critical acclaim for their poetic resonance and intimate scale.

Celafet currently lives and works in Berlin, where they continue to push the boundaries of narrative and abstraction in contemporary art.
