Carlos Ryan

Carlos Ryan is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans painting, sculpture, and digital media, exploring the dynamic interplay between memory, identity, and urban landscapes. Born in Los Angeles in 1988, Ryan draws inspiration from the city’s vibrant cultural diversity and architectural contrasts, weaving together visual narratives that reflect both personal and collective histories. After earning a BFA from the California Institute of the Arts, he began exhibiting in local galleries, quickly gaining recognition for his distinctive use of color, layered textures, and incorporation of found materials.

Ryan’s work often investigates the boundaries between the physical and the ephemeral, inviting viewers to consider the fragments of everyday experience that shape individual and communal existence. His exhibitions have traveled nationally and internationally, featured in major cities such as New York, São Paulo, and Berlin. In addition to his studio practice, Carlos Ryan is engaged in community-based art initiatives, mentoring emerging artists and collaborating on public art projects that seek to democratize the experience of contemporary art.
