British Murder Boys

British Murder Boys is the collaborative project of legendary UK techno artists Regis (Karl O’Connor) and Surgeon (Anthony Child). Established in the early 2000s, their partnership emerged from a shared passion for pushing the boundaries of techno, noise, and industrial music. Taking their name from a notorious British crime group, they channeled a raw, confrontational energy into their productions and live performances, earning a reputation for challenging conventions both sonically and visually.

Regis and Surgeon first joined forces through releases on the influential label Downwards, before solidifying their collaboration as British Murder Boys with a string of acclaimed EPs. Their music is characterized by pounding, distorted rhythms, experimental structures, and an uncompromising attitude that reflected the harsh realities of post-industrial Britain. Tracks such as "Father Loves Us," "Learn Your Lesson," and "All The Saints Have Been Hung" became underground anthems, celebrated for their fusion of club functionality and avant-garde experimentation.

Beyond studio productions, British Murder Boys became renowned for their incendiary live sets, which often incorporated elements of improvisation, turntablism, and multimedia art. Their performances broke down barriers between DJing and live electronics, establishing new standards for intensity and unpredictability within techno. Though the project was put on hiatus after a series of shows in the late 2000s, Regis and Surgeon have periodically reunited for special events and new releases, their influence unmistakable in the work of a new generation of techno producers and artists.
