Blue Amazon

Blue Amazon is a pioneering British electronic music act formed by Leeds-based producer Lee Softley in the mid-1990s, originally as a duo with James Reid. The project swiftly gained recognition for its innovative blend of progressive house, trance, and breakbeat, helping to define the UK’s underground sound during dance music’s golden era. Blue Amazon made a significant impact with their debut single “No Other Love” and secured international acclaim through their iconic releases on labels such as Jackpot, Sony, and Bedrock.

Their 1997 debut album “The Javelin” is widely regarded as a classic, noted for its lush textures and sophisticated production. Early in their career, Blue Amazon established a reputation for remixing dancefloor heavyweights like Sasha, Skunk Anansie, and New Order, infusing their signature driving grooves and melodic sensibilities. Following the departure of Reid, Lee Softley continued Blue Amazon as a solo venture, consistently evolving the sound while DJing worldwide and collaborating with renowned artists.

Blue Amazon remains a respected name in electronic music, celebrated for their forward-thinking approach, influential catalogue, and lasting contributions to the progressive house scene.
