Berfu is a contemporary visual artist from Turkey whose work explores the intersections between memory, identity, and place. Growing up amidst the vibrant cultures and layered histories of Istanbul, Berfu developed a keen sensitivity to the subtle ways in which personal narratives are shaped by both tradition and the rapidly changing urban landscape. Their multidisciplinary practice spans painting, installation, and digital media, often incorporating found materials and archival imagery to evoke feelings of nostalgia and displacement.
After completing studies in fine arts at Mimar Sinan University, Berfu’s work began gaining attention through group exhibitions in Istanbul, Ankara, and Berlin, and later through solo shows that delve into themes of migration and belonging. Their artistic voice is marked by a delicate balance of introspection and social commentary, inviting viewers to engage with the ephemeral nature of memory and the fluidity of cultural boundaries. Committed to fostering dialogue within the arts community, Berfu also participates in educational outreach programs, using art as a tool for empowerment and collective storytelling.
