Bendik Giske

Bendik Giske is a Norwegian saxophonist, composer, and performance artist celebrated for his physical, immersive approach to music-making. Born and raised in Oslo, Giske has forged a distinct path that blurs the lines between contemporary jazz, electronic music, experimental sound art, and performance. Drawing on techniques inspired by both classical training and the breathing exercises of YouTube fitness gurus, Giske’s solo performances often feature circular breathing and extended improvisations, resulting in hypnotic, continuous soundscapes that push the boundaries of human endurance and instrumental capability.

His acclaimed debut album “Surrender” (2019) and subsequent works, including “Cracks” (2021), place the body and breath at the heart of the musical experience, exploring vulnerability, queerness, and the dialogue between performer and instrument. Giske’s presence on stage is as much a visual statement as a sonic one, challenging traditional relationships between artist, audience, and space, and positioning him as a standout innovator in Europe’s experimental music scene.
