Basic Rhythm is the production alias of UK artist Anthoney Hart, who has emerged as a significant voice in the landscape of contemporary electronic and underground music. Rooted in the sounds of jungle, UK hardcore, and grime, Hart’s work as Basic Rhythm provides an evocative exploration of the musical history of London, drawing inspiration from his upbringing in East London and his deep personal connection to pirate radio culture. Launching his Basic Rhythm project in the mid-2010s, Hart’s releases for esteemed labels such as Planet Mu, Type Recordings, and Sneaker Social Club have established him as a compelling force, combining precise, skeletal drum programming with thick layers of bass, shards of melody, and murky atmospherics.
