Allison Trench is a contemporary visual artist known for her evocative explorations of memory, place, and transformation through mixed media works. Born in 1985 in Portland, Oregon, she cultivated a deep connection to the natural environment, which continues to influence her practice. Trench earned her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she developed her signature process of layering found materials, pigment, and gestural mark-making.
Her work has been exhibited in solo and group shows across the United States, including exhibitions at the Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Denver. Drawing inspiration from personal history, archival research, and environmental change, Trench’s art invites viewers into immersive landscapes and abstract narratives that challenge traditional boundaries between painting, sculpture, and installation. She currently lives and works in Chicago, where she also teaches workshops and collaborates with local arts organizations to foster community engagement through creative practice.
