Alice DiMar is a contemporary mixed-media artist whose evocative work explores the intersection of memory, identity, and landscape. Born in 1992 in Providence, Rhode Island, DiMar grew up surrounded by the rugged beauty of the New England coast, an environment that continues to inform her visual language. After receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2015, she relocated to Brooklyn, New York, where she currently lives and maintains her studio practice.
DiMar’s art, which blends painting, collage, and found-object assemblage, often features layered textures and a muted palette, inviting viewers to reflect on the subtle traces of human presence within natural and built environments. Her work has been exhibited nationally in venues such as the Drawing Center in New York, the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, and in group shows throughout Europe. Driven by a deep curiosity about the ways in which objects and materials carry histories, DiMar seeks to create intimate, meditative spaces that connect personal experience with collective memory.
