Aleksi Perälä

Aleksi Perälä is a Finnish electronic music producer and composer, born in 1976, renowned for his idiosyncratic approach to techno, ambient, and experimental electronic music. Emerging in the early 2000s under the Colundi moniker and several other aliases, Perälä swiftly established himself as a singular voice within the electronic underground, blending complex rhythmic structures with lush, evolving harmonies. Drawing on influences from early IDM, classic Detroit techno, and Finnish electronic traditions, he is best known for his extensive Colundi Sequence project, in which he explores custom musical tunings and microtonality, derived from the Colundi Scale, devised in part with long-time collaborator Grant Wilson-Claridge.

This unique tuning system has become a central motif in his vast discography, offering listeners a cosmic and otherworldly audio experience. Perälä’s prolific output, released on acclaimed labels such as Rephlex and Clone, is defined by its innovative pursuit of sonic possibilities, combining emotional depth with technical ingenuity.
